Linoleum Installation Reminders
Are you glueing down Marmoleum tile or sheet goods? Always check moisture content in your concrete slabs, if appropriate with a reliable method. Forbo adhesives do have moisture limiting properties but they vary. A professional installer will always confirm moisture content in concrete before installing and Forbo installation guidelines will determine which moisture limitor and/or adhesive is correct. Do not guess at moisture conditions for a Marmoleum installation.
Installing Click Flooring over concrete? All installations over concrete require a vapor barrier. Please consult the Marmoleum Click Installation Guide for specific instructions but generally a 6 mil poly or the Forbo combo padding and vapor barrier is adequate for most installations. Not to be installed over damp or wet floors. Generally the presence of floor drains or sump pumps are good indicators that Marmoleum Click is not appropriate for those areas.

Marmoleum Click® T-Mold
Used to bridge two areas of flooring that are the exact same height. The T-Molding overlaps the exposed edges of the Marmoleum Click and is secured only to the subfloor, never to the flooring itself. Generally this trim is used as the transition piece between rooms, or as the ex- pansion piece for areas that exceed 26 ft. in length.
Note: An expansion joint also has to be provided if the surface to be covered is longer or wider than 26''. This expansion joint should be covered with a "T" shaped profile. The same applies in the area of doors, connecting passageways and polygonal-shaped rooms. In general, adjacent rooms must be separated with a "T" molding. Use an overlap reducer to transition to adjacent, lower lying areas or floor coverings. An overlap end profile is ideal for clean finishes of the flooring in front of higher, adjacent sills, tiles or other raised floors. An adequate gap must also be provided at door frames or wooden door frames cut short. To do this, place a loose panel against the door frame with the Marmoleum side facing downward, and saw the frame off along the panel.

Cleaning Supplies
All Forbo Marmoleum Flooring products come with a topshield coating that makes the product 21st century ready to roll. Over time, your resilient floor will need some maintenance, which generally involves a good solid cleaning with Forbo PH Balanced Cleaner and a followup with an application of Marmoleum Finish. Depending on the amount of traffic your floor gets, you may choose to recoat in one or two years, while some people go five years or even fifteen years if they are a shoes off household. Recoating your floor does add a soft gloss.
